Comparing plans
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan F
There are four parts of Medicare: Part A and Part B (Original Medicare), Part C (Medicare Advantage) and Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage).
There are 10 standardized Medigap plans that help cover some of Original Medicare's out-of-pocket costs. The most popular of these Medigap plans is Plan F.
Important: Plan F is not available to beneficiaries who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.
Why Choose Plan F?
The reason Medigap Plan F is likely so popular is because of the comprehensive coverage it provides.1 In fact, Medigap Plan F is the only Medigap policy that provides coverage for all nine basic benefit areas:
- Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs
- Medicare Part B coinsurance or co-payment
- First three pints of blood
- Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment
- Coinsurance for skilled nursing facility
- Medicare Part A deductible
- Medicare Part B deductible
- Medicare Part B excess charges
- 80% of foreign travel emergency care
