Many people know Gerber for the baby food sold by Gerber Products Company. But Gerber Life Insurance Company actually sells a variety of insurance products, including Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap).

About Gerber Life Insurance Company

Gerber Life Insurance Company has provided life insurance products since 1967.

Part of the Gerber Life Insurance Company mission is to help parents and grandparents gain financial security, no matter what stage of life they may be in.

Gerber Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans

Gerber Life Insurance Company sells all 10 standardized Medicare Supplement Insurance plans, although not every plan is available in every location or in every state.

The 10 standardized Medigap plans that are available in most states are listed in the comparison chart below.

What Do Gerber Life Medigap Plans Cover?

The 10 standardized Medicare Supplement Insurance plans available in most states can provide coverage for nine different benefit areas.

Each plan offers its own combination of coverage in the following areas:

  • Medicare Part A deductible
  • Medicare Part B deductible
  • Part A coinsurance and hospital costs
  • Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayments
  • Part B coinsurance and copayments
  • Skilled nursing facility coinsurance
  • Part B excess charges
  • First three pints of blood needed for a transfusion
  • Foreign travel emergency care

Depending on where you live, you may be able to find Gerber Medigap plans that include some of the following popular plans:

  • Medigap Plan F
Plan F is the most popular Medigap plan, and it provides more benefits than any of the other standardized Medigap plans.

  • Medigap Plan G
Plan G is similar to Plan F in that it provides coverage for all of the standardized Medigap benefits, except for the Medicare Part B deductible.

  • Medigap Plan A
Plan A offers the fewest benefits of any of the standardized Medigap plans. Any Medicare Supplement Insurance company that sells Medigap plans must provide at least Plan A.

When to Enroll in a Medigap Plan

The best time to sign up for a Medigap plan is during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period. Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period lasts for 6 months and begins as soon as you are at least 65 years old and enrolled in Medicare Part B.

During your Medigap Open Enrollment Period, insurance companies cannot use medical underwriting to determine your Medigap premiums or plan acceptance based on your health.

You may still sign up for a Medigap plan after your enrollment period closes, but you may be subject to underwriting and might end up paying more for your plan.
